some incredible artwork by jim denevan. his "sand" series has always been my favorite- i love the visual of the changing waves washing this all away.
jim is also the founder of "Outstanding in the Field", a traveling local culinary movement.

i was introduced to the work of bay area landscape architect Andrea Cochran by Casey (of K.I.D. Collective) a while ago- needless to say, I am obsessed with the spaces she creates.

We just got back from an AMAZING vacation back home to California. Here are a few pictures of my precious friends and family that we got to spend time with. Matt, cousin Mike, and me on the Marin side of the golden gate. Mike is starting his PhD at Cal this month, and I am so proud of him. (ps GO BEARS!)
Dad, me, and my brother Christopher- he's also starting his PhD this month, at the University of Oregon.
Allison and Arthur got married in a beautiful ceremony, surrounded by olive trees on his parent's property.
Mom and aunt Annette on the San Clemente pier, where we enjoyed a four-hour dinner "feast" overlooking the waves with my uncle Bill.
with two of my very best friends: Sarah (from grad school at UPenn) and Robbin (my roomate and best friend from Berkeley). They both ended up in SF and now they hang out in North Beach without me :( I love these girls!
my other favorite Sarah (from HS) and with her gorgeous family, Matt and baby Mason. so much happiness here!
With my handsome husband Matt- so excited to be back in the Santa Ynez Valley where we were married last year.

(I've been a little absent from blogging and twitter recently. It was really important for me to focus on enjoying days spent with these amazing people (and all the ones I don't have photos of), so I took a little break from the internet. During our trip, we traveled all over the state, and I have lots of amazing inspiration that I'll be sharing here in the next few weeks.)

gorgeous bouquets from sarah at saipua in red hook, brooklyn. i love how these feel like they could have been casually plucked during a fabulous morning walk, but are still slightly opulent and formal.

the aftermath of some fabulous wedding, styled by Lo Bjurulf for IKEA. That's right, IKEA- didn't she do an amazing job of toning down the modernity?
