love love love how these vintage science class staples are displayed with flowers over in the trampoline etsy shop. naturally beautiful and slightly, delightfully offputting!

amazing. my entire childhood, all i wanted was an entire wall of my own that i could just draw and sketch on. i'm trying to think of something else i missed in childhood, but really, a drawing wall was it. this wallpaper by jon burgerman would have been so incredibly fun!

"the wave" is a competition entry by joshua beck and tom reiner, semi-finalists in a competition to design a new access pathway at san onofre state beach. i think the integration with the site, elevated view over the wetlands, and the niches to enjoy the ocean breeze from are particularly beautiful.

from new zealand's boskke- the innovative "sky planter", a self-watering plant container which claims to reduce watering of houseplants by up to 80%. The coolest part is how it hangs upside down for a this striking visual effect!

over at sunset magazine, there is a very cool tutorial showing how to make a hanging succulent garden. the impact of the large version pictured above would be incredible on against a blank wall, or an arrangement of three smaller frames could work for those of city-dwellers with space constraints. the texture here is so beautiful!

like eveyone else on the internet, i'm currently following illustrator Lisa Congdon's new blog, A Collection a Day. Each day she posts a photo or an illustration of a tiny like group of items. I personally enjoy her drawings, especially these three - lamps, shoes, and twine happen to be some of my own favorite collections!

a fresh update to a crisp white bed. this idea could be turned into a simple diy project too. i'm ready for naptime, anyone else?

at the kid's republic bookstore in beijing, this colorful rainbow ribbon guides customers through different zones of the store, and even transforms into stairs. the end result- a striking visual effect and inventive circulation plan. (beautifully designed by sako architects).

i have loved the look of cyanotype prints since playing with sunprint kits back in elementary school. both of these fabric versions were made using the same process- it is possible to buy sun-sensitive fabric as well as paper! (there are very sophisticated ways to chemically work with cyanotype in the darkroom as well- view some here). looks like such a fun weekend project, and the results are so striking!

was at neiman marcus today and saw a beautiful sight- hanging over the open escalators were thousands of gold and silver butterflies, and it was just so beautiful! it felt like you were flying up into some sort of magical jungle.
they sparkled and reflected the light much more in real life. this view here reminds me of what kelp beds would look like from underwater.
(not the best pictures ever- i took them with my phone!)
